
Borneo Jungle Safari
November 16th- 24th 2026
Day 1:
10.30am, pick up from your hotel in Sandakan and transfer to Bilit Adventure Lodge. The drive takes about 2hrs to reach Bilit Jetty. From the Jetty, take a 2mins boat ride to cross the Kinabatangan River and check-in to Bilit Adventure Lodge. 1300hrs have lunch and chill out at the lodge. 1530hrs have afternoon tea and at 1600hrs head out on a boat cruise in search of the Borneo Big 5 (orangutan, proboscis monkey, pygmy elephant, saltwater crocodile, rhinoceros hornbill). After the 2hrs boat cruise, return to lodge. 1900hrs- dinner.
Day 2:
Embark on a Morning boat cruise in search of the Borneo big 5 and a whole range of other amazing Bornean wildlife. After the river cruise, we set out on a guided jungle walk where we can see amazing wildlife on foot. Lunch, then set out for an afternoon boat cruise. After dinner set out on a guided night walk where the jungle becomes alive! We will go in search of nocturnal wildlife like reptiles, the illusive tarsier and much more.
Day 3:
Morning boat cruise. After the boat cruise we will participate in a tree planting experience, where we can contribute to the rehabilitation of Borneo’s amazing rainforest. In the afternoon, we will head to Gomantong Caves, which has an intricate cave system, home to a vast array of wildlife. There, we will see swifts, whose nests are collected for bird’s nest soup and watch as nearly 300,000 bats fly out of the cave for the evening.
Day 4:
Morning boat cruise on the Kinabatangan River, followed by a village walk, where we will see how the traditional Bornean people live in the jungle. In the afternoon, we will do another river cruise. At night, we will set out on a guided night walk in the jungle in search of nocturnal wildlife.
Day 5:
Boat cruise to Ox-Bow Lakes. This is where the U- bend in the river changes course and over time it naturally becomes cut off from the main river to form a lake. This is a good place to see wildlife like bathing pygmy elephants. In the afternoon we will embark on our final boat cruise on the Kinabatangan in search of the Borneo Big 5.
Day 6:
After breakfast we will check-out of Bilit Adventure Lodge by 0730hrs and return to Sandakan. We will spend the day at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Here, we will observe how the orangutans are rescued and rehabilitated. We will watch the morning & afternoon feedings at the feeding platform & outdoor nursery. We will then check-in to the Sepilok Jungle Resort.
Day 7:
After breakfast, we will visit the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary. We will see how these unique monkeys are rescued and rehabilitated. After the monkey sanctuary, we will have a local lunch enroute back to the jungle lodge. Chill out at the lodge, then at 1600hrs, transfer to a fisherman village for a village walk, village games, mangrove cruise and evening fire flies watching.
Day 8:
After breakfast, we will set out on a jungle hike in the Sepilok forest. Here, we will have the opportunity to see various species of primates, other mammals, birds and reptiles, all while being surrounded by Borneo’s epic jungle! PM- Chill out at the lodge for the rest of the day.
Day 9:
After breakfast we will visit to Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Here, we will see sun bears (the smallest bear in the world) and the work being done to protect these beautiful creatures. After seeing the bears, we will have a farewell seafood lunch before being dropped off Sandakan Airport or the hotel if you are staying an extra night.

Once the retainer is paid, your spot on the trip is confirmed. Spots may fill up fast, so we recommend paying the retainer ASAP so you don’t miss out. The retainer is non-refundable however, if you find a replacement, we will be happy to refund your retainer. In an unlikely event of world travel disruption (like covid, war etc), we will make a good faith effort to try and recover your retainer from our international hosts, but it is not guaranteed. You can pay the retainer via bank transfer or PayPal. If paying via PayPal, there is a 5% surcharge to cover the PayPal fees.

Remainder is to be paid by September 17th 2026 (60 days before the start date of trip). This is the latest date for payment. We recommend paying the remainder before this date in case there are any issues or delays. We will send you payment information for the remainder amount as it will be a different account to the retainer.
Included: All tours, activities, park permits, park entrance fees, guides, transfers & all meals during the trip.
Not Included: Airfares, camera fees, extra beverages, snacks, tourism tax ($2.50 USD per night. Pay cash upon check-out lodge/hotel), souvenirs, travel insurance, any hotels before or after the trip, any VISAS which may be required to enter the country, staff/guide tips.
Location: We will in Sabah, which is the Malaysian state of Borneo. We will meet in Sandakan. We recommend arriving in Sandakan the day before the trip starts and staying in a hotel in Sandakan (at your own cost). Depending on the time of your departing flight, we also recommend staying in Sandakan the night the trip ends (unless your departure flight is late at night).
